DA Photo Lab/ Visual Information

DAPMIS sunset on 31 July 2025, photo facilities are no longer be able to fulfill the requirements for Department of the Army (DA) official photographs or upload DA photos to the Army Military Human Resource Record (AMHRR).

The JFHQ Photo Studio provides head & shoulder command portraits, official personnel photos, Passport and ISOPREP photos for soldiers and staff of the Massachusetts National Guard and neighboring states.

Audio Visual equipment (speakers, microphones, projectors, etc.) are available to rent for events. AV support is available for the JFHQ auditorium and conferences rooms.

Photo Studio Instructions

APPOINTMENTS

Separate appointments must be requested in VIOS (CAC-enabled) for each type of photo needed.

Photo appointments are scheduled in 20-minute increments to allow enough time for photography, image selection, printing, and wardrobe changes if necessary.
 

PUNCTUALITY

If you anticipate being more than 5-10 minutes late, please contact the studio as soon as possible. PHONE: 339-202-3624 Other customers may be scheduled, and you will have to wait for the next available time slot. If the studio hasn’t been contacted by the end of the day of your appointment, your appointment will be cancelled in VIOS and you’ll need to reschedule using VIOS. 

ACCOMMODATIONS

Reasonable accommodations will be made for anyone with mobility or other limitations. Please contact us if you need any type of accommodations or have questions about accessing the photo studio.

COME PREPARED

You must have your Common Access Card (CAC) for DA Photos

Uniforms may be changed in the studio dressing room. Restrooms are located down the hall, and lockers are available in the shower rooms.

UNIFORMS

The following information is in accordance with Army Regulation 640-30

The official DA photo date cannot precede the soldier’s actual date of promotion. Therefore, soldiers cannot wear frocked rank in DA photos. Command portraits can be taken wearing frocked rank. 

Uniforms are the explicit responsibility of the service member. The photographer will not dictate to an individual about uniform items or their wear. The photographer may make suggestions only for obvious uniform discrepancies and general appearance issues affecting final image.
 

RESHOOTS

Re-shoots may be scheduled when there is an error on the part of the photographer or the equipment.

DIGITAL EDITING

Except for basic exposure, color, cropping and artifact removal; digital modifications are not allowed for official personnel photos. Digital alterations of physical features, or the uniform for official personnel photos, is not permissible per DoD regulations. This is a zero tolerance policy.

Image Delivery :

After your photo session is completed, you will receive your digital images via email.
Prints may be available per customer requests and production capabilities.

DA photos must be reviewed in DAPMIS within 3 days. If you do not accept the photo within three duty days,

DAPMIS will automatically accept the photo on the fourth duty day, and it will become your official DA photo of record in iPERMS.

If you are unable to see your DA photo in DAPMIS within three duty days after the photo was taken, contact the JFHQ Photo Studio for assistance.
