Senior Enlisted Leader Massachusetts National Guard


Command Sgt. Maj. Peter P. Pouliot

 Command Sergeant Major Peter P. Pouliot entered the United States Army in August of 1989.  He completed the One Station Unit Training (OSUT) as an Infantryman and graduated from the Airborne School at Ft Benning, GA.  Following initial training he was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY until joining the Massachusetts Army National Guard in 1993. Command Sergeant Major Pouliot currently serves as the State Command Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Massachusetts National Guard.

Throughout his career, Command Sergeant Major Pouliot served in numerous positions within the Massachusetts Army National Guard. His previous leadership assignments included two First Sergeant tours while assigned to Alpha Company 1st  Battalion 181st Infantry, Agawam and the Headquarters and Headquarter Company, 1st Battalion 181st Infantry Regiment, Worcester.  He also completed four additional Command Sergeant Major tours at the battalion and brigade levels, serving with the 1st Battalion 101st Field Artillery Regiment, Brockton, the 51st Troop Command, Wellesley, the 151st Regional Support Group, Camp Curtis Guild, Reading, and the Land Component Command Sergeant Major, JFHQ, Hanscom AFB.  

Command Sergeant Major Pouliot has deployed four times in support of the Nation’s defense.  He first deployed in 1991 to the Middle East as an infantryman during the Persian Gulf War. He served as the Installations Defense Force Operation and Logistical Sergeant during Operation Noble Eagle in 2002.  During his deployment in support of Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay, Cuba he served as a Platoon Sergeant in 2005, and later in 2008 he deployed to Afghanistan as a Platoon Sergeant and Regional Police Mentor in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. 

Command Sergeant Major Pouliot’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit Medal, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with an oak leaf cluster,  the Army Commendation Medal with a Valor device and three oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Southwest Asian Defense Service Medal with two bronze stars, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, Saudi Arabian and Kuwait Awards, and various other awards and recognitions.

He is a graduate of the of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy and the U.S. Army War College Nominative Leaders Course.

Command Sergeant Major Pouliot has been a long-time member and Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Massachusetts Counterdrug Program and served as the Senior Enlister Advisor of the National Guard Counterdrug Advisory Council.

He resides in Holden, Massachusetts with his wife Layla, their two daughters, Lily and Kate, and son Will.
